Autumn days....

As the weather starts to change (or stay the same! wet & cold!) we find ourselves looking towards Christmas. From now till December tends to be a busy time for us with many families who use The Memory Workshop for their family portraits starting to plan sittings in time for Christmas. We encourage them to come in early to avoid the pressure and rush as the final deadlines for posting to relatives draw near but also because this is such a beautiful season. In all honesty, I think its my favourite! as the thrill of December and all its festivities draws near nature provides a fantastic colour palette for us to play with. I don't think you can beat Autumn for outdoor shoots. The following are a few samples from a fab sitting we managed to squeeze in, just in the nick of time last year...

Lucas

Some pics from a recent baby session. We got to photograph this cutie before his family moved away. We miss them already ;-)

A few more faves

Here's just a few more images from that family shoot that previewed this week. These guys are just so cute they deserve a second post! (the full collection is on our website www.thememoryworkshop.co.uk under customer previews)

Just for fun....

One of those rare occaisions when we took time out to just chill, and go take pictures just for fun. We really should do more things just for fun! Infact, if you're reading this, think of something fun you hadn't planned on, and go do it!

Taste of Summer

There's nothing like fresh pineapple on those nice summer days that we never really get ;-) I found this great little tool at Lakeland ltd for getting the center of the pineapple out and leaving the outer intact for use as a frut salad bowl, or cocktail glass, silly hat... the possibilities are endless! (so feel free to let me know of any suggestions- could be fun ;-)

childhood dreams...

Just a quick snap I took whilst preparing to shoot a bookazine for Practical Publishing last year. This wasn't an 'official' shot but I just love the fairytale look of the way the light gleams on the water. It reminds me of summer as a child, stretching endlessly ahead and so full of possibility and adventure.

Weight loss woes...

I have been dieting for over a year now. Seriously! and I'm no lighter or slimmer or whatever! I have tried every diet going including Weight Watchers twice. I am eating a fraction of what I used to eat but losing no weight! Its so frustrating! I only have to look at food to gain weight!
So today I had to photograph these muffins for a LO Linds is doing for Scrapbook Magazine iss26. They smelled so good! and then when Im done she offers me one....what was I supposed to do? ;-)

it was triple choc, triple sugar, triple fat..... triple yum!!!

Of pizza, toasters and other random delights...

This totally fab family originally booked for an outdoors sitting but the UK summer being what it is made that not such a good idea. Fortunately it didn't dampen their spirits! These guys are such fun! We have worked with part of the group before and it was such a pleasure to return and meet more of the family. They have been waiting patiently and the day for preview is almost here, so excuse me whilst I indulge them with a little sneaky peek! Its so hard to pick my absolute favourites but here are just a few, feast your eyes on these cuties! (Thanks guys for a great sitting ;-)...

and finally one that will make sense to the star of the pic :-)....

more to follow from this sitting soon ...

Domestic Goddess?

or maybe not ;-)
but sometimes I surprise myself...

This was my nephew's birthday cake. I did have the help of a fab ice cream cone cake tin from Lakeland ltd (they didnt even stick - so easy!) and packet cake mix and ready to spread icing!

they looked pretty though :-)

Random Thoughts

Totally random pic but it makes me smile. Makes me want to cut all my hair off and get highlights again too ;-) oh well!

Oh build me a home!

No, seriously! do! How any first time buyer is supposed to get on the property ladder is beyond me!
anyway I got on the chipboard ladder, with 3 other fab girlies! (big waves to Mel Lee and Linds) who all built their own (chipboard) homes for issue 36 of Simply Cards and Papercrafts. I love this pic, I think we make quite a cute little neighborhood ;-). Infact I would definately live there, especially if the sky is that blue all the time. would probably have to build me a lil chipboard takeaway round the corner though ;-)

Weird Fish........

Dave: what's whitebait?

waiter: uh, its.... whitebait!

Me: ok, is it strong fish, or mild flavoured

waiter: oh, its mild

Dave: ok, I'll try the whitebait then.

And so the waiter brought him a lil pot of tiny battered fish with heads, tails and everything still there! His face was a picture! I geuss I just asked the wrong question, I did not see that coming!

(not a very good quality pic as it was taken using my phone.)

As you can see... he tried! ;-)

To blog or not to blog.....

Ok, so I have resisted the whole blog thing for quite a while, questioning a number of things like why would anyone want to know what I'm up to and do I really want to tell the world anyway. On some level I think that there is an unhealthy obsession with watching other people live their lives that can get in the way of us living our own if we are not careful. At the same time though with the world 'shrinking' the way it is things such as this offer us untold possibilities for keeping in touch with those we care about who may be far away. so after much deliberation, I did it! This is my blog. Its purpose is simple, for those who count themselves as my freinds or family it is a way of keeping in touch and sharing a little of what is going on with me right now. But also, I hope this will be a place for 'creative expression'. There are quite a few blogs out there that have inspired me in the times when I have run out of ideas or the will to create, whether it be photography or other. So maybe I can inspire someone else, who knows ;-) Most of all I hope it will be a happy and carefree place. we all need to escape sometimes ;-) so, sit back and...
